Amy L. Wrightsel

Chief Operating Officer

As COO of Preferred Medical, Amy Wrightsel has transformed the company into an industry leader that is top of mind to insurance carriers, self-insured employers and third-party administrators nationwide. In her role as COO, Amy handles the executive management of the company’s day-to-day sales, marketing and pricing operations.

Amy joined Preferred Medical 15 years ago as a client service associate and quickly worked her way up and has proven to be a successful and trusted leader with an extensive knowledge in workers’ compensation claims management. Her leadership is driven by the philosophy of doing what it takes to get in front of claims to ensure the needs of her customers are met.

Amy is a member of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Mike Goodpaster

Senior Vice President of Business Development

Mike Goodpaster is the senior vice president of business development at Preferred Medical. He is responsible for helping new and existing customers solve issues and address pain points that are important to all stakeholders of the business. Additionally, Mike is responsible for educating clients and prospective clients on the values of Preferred Medical and the results they will achieve by partnering with Preferred Medical.

Mike has been with Preferred Medical for six years and brings 30 years of experience in sales, account management and business growth and development.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Missouri Southern University.

Scott Yasko

Vice President of Business Development

Scott E. Yasko is Vice President of Business Development at Preferred Medical. His responsibilities in this role are vast and varying, helping to create the strategic focus of the organization while also working to optimize internal processes. In the marketplace, he represents Preferred Medical as a subject matter expert and trusted adviser.

Scott has been in the workers’ compensation industry for almost 10 years, and in that time has held roles running the gamut of managed care including experience with pharmaceutical peer reviews, utilization review, IME’s, medicare set-asides, urine drug testing, Pharmacogenetics, and much more. It is this expansive background that he has leveraged to become a modest industry contributor via speaking engagements, publications, and continuing education courses.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Robert Morris University in Chicago, IL, and his MBA from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA.

Mark Pew

Senior Vice President of Product Development & Marketing

In his role as senior vice president of product development and marketing, Mark Pew identifies new solutions and enhances existing ones to meet the needs of Preferred Medical’s clients. He also plays a critical role in strategic business growth through client and partner relationships. Mark, who is also known in the industry as the “RxProfessor,” frequently shares his perspectives on the intersection of chronic pain and appropriate treatment through speaking engagements, blogs, and CE and other educational sessions. He is focused on the clinical and financial implications of opioids, benzodiazepines and the evolution of medical marijuana in workers’ compensation. Known for his passion for ensuring every injured worker receives the appropriate treatment, Mark champions the industry to #CleanUpTheMess and shares his extensive research on the BioPsychoSocialSpiritual treatment model.

Mark has been recognized by the industry for his work as a 2016 recipient of the WorkCompCentral Magna Comp Laude award and a 2017 winner of the IAIABC Samuel Gompers Award. His blog, RxProfessor, has also received industry acclaim and was recognized as one of the best blogs in the industry in 2016, 2017 and 2018 by WorkersCompensation.com.

David Price

Director of Government Affairs

David Price is Director of Government Affairs for Preferred Medical. David oversees the compliance program and client education initiatives, leveraging his extensive legal and regulatory experience. He plays a crucial role in enhancing, building, and maintaining the company’s relationships with legislatures and regulatory bodies as changes are proposed to state workers’ compensation systems.

David has built a strong reputation for his expert analysis on workers’ compensation regulations and their implications for stakeholders. Prior to joining Preferred Medical, David served as Compliance Counsel for a nationwide workers’ compensation medical cost management company.

Additionally, David is an established speaker and author on topics related to the evolving regulatory and policy landscape of workers’ compensation. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Berry College in Government and International Studies.

Craig Towner

Senior Vice President of Operations

Craig Towner is the vice president of pharmacy at Preferred Medical. He is responsible for designing and overseeing processes to meet client objectives and satisfaction, communicate with key stakeholders regarding problem resolution, opportunities and metrics, and providing strategic solutions.

Craig has experience with Fortune 100 companies, working with hospitals as well as individual consumers of healthcare products. He has built a solid reputation for delivering results by effectively communicating horizontally and vertically.

Prior to joining Preferred Medical in 2015, Craig served as director of operations for Clinical Specialties, Inc. and Express Scripts, Inc.

Craig earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication & Marketing from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN and his MBA in Healthcare Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN.

Aaron Schram

Senior Vice President, Information Technology

Aaron Schram joined Preferred Medical as senior vice president of information technology in 2018. He oversees all aspects of IT infrastructure, data management and security. Aaron works closely with every aspect of the business to ensure technology strategies and initiatives align with organizational goals. He identifies and manages all relationships with key technology partners.

Aaron has extensive experience in systems and application design for business and client reporting and analytics, EDI, billing and industry specific reporting requirements. Prior to joining Preferred Medical, he served as vice president for information technology for a national pharmaceutical processor.

Aaron has a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Cindy Alvano

Vice President of Finance & Accounting

Cindy Alvano is Preferred Medical’s Vice President of Finance & Accounting and a member of the executive management team. These roles will leverage her 20+ years of experience as a corporate controller and finance manager to oversee the financial strategy and direction of the company. Her expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting alongside her people managing skills are foundational to the ongoing growth trends of the business. After having worked at large companies like Johnson Controls and Humana as well as smaller companies like Brown Jordan and FLSmidth, she has a broad and deep understanding for how finance and accounting is a foundational component to the stability and growth of a company.

Cindy earned her Bachelor of Science in accounting degree from Briar Cliff University, her MBA from Wayne State College, and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 2000.

Sheila Miles-Dial

Director of Provider Relations

Sheila Miles-Dial brings 25 years’ experience in the workers’ compensation industry to her current role as director of provider relations. Sheila builds and manages provider networks for all of Preferred Medical’s ancillary lines of business.

Sheila has a BS Degree in Human Resources from Florida Southern College. She is actively involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and has earned her Six Sigma Lean certification.
